History
Born during the first centuries of the Roman conquest, on the very doorstep of the city of Burdigala (nowadays called Bordeaux), the vineyard of the “Graves” and “Sauternais” is the birthplace of the Bordeaux Wines. Already well-knowned in the Middle Age, it took off in the 12th century during the marriage of Eleanor of Aquitaine and the King of England, Henry II.

The Terroir
The “Graves” lie on a subsoil composed of clay, sand, alios (sand hardened by a blackish, ferruginous cement), chalk and shelly sand. They testify to the historic meanderings of the Garonne, the changes in its course at the end of the Tertiary Era and during the Quaternary, between successive periods of glaciation.
The gravel, composed of pebbles rolled by the water, varies from twenty centimetres to 3 metres in thickness.
Reflecting perfectly the radiance of the sun, the “Grave” progressively redistributes the heat onto the bunches of grapes and thus contributes in order to improve the process of ripening.
